Why Verify Your Phone?

Phone verification adds a visible trust signal to your profile. It shows other pilots that you've confirmed access to a real phone number, and it enables number checks for trades without revealing your stored number.

2

How to Verify

Phone verification is a quick process that takes under 2 minutes:

  1. 1

Go to your Profile and find the Trust Badges section.

  2. 2

Tap "Verify" on the Phone Verified badge.

  3. 3

Re-authenticate by entering your password. This security step confirms it's really you.

  4. 4

Enter your South African mobile number. SkySpot currently supports SA numbers only.

  5. 5

Enter the OTP code sent to your phone via SMS.

  6. 6

Your phone is now linked and verified.

Tip: Phone verification takes under 2 minutes and gives other pilots an extra signal when they check your profile or Trust Hub.

What Others See

Other pilots see a "Phone Verified" badge on your profile and Trust Hub. They do NOT see your actual phone number. Your privacy is protected — the badge simply confirms that you have a verified number on file.

4

Number Check Tool

When you're chatting with a potential buyer or seller on another platform like WhatsApp, you can compare that chat number against the phone verified on their SkySpot profile:

  • Open the other pilot's Trust Hub and use the number check button shown on phone-verified profiles.
  • Copy the number from your WhatsApp or marketplace chat, paste it into SkySpot, and submit the check.
  • SkySpot tells you whether that number matches the verified phone on the profile. It does NOT reveal the stored number.
  • Rate-limited to 5 checks per viewer-profile pair per day to prevent abuse.
5

Keeping Your Number Current

If your phone number changes, contact support@skyspot.co.za before using vouches or number checks for a trade. The app stores a verification timestamp internally, but there is not currently an automatic re-verification prompt in the user interface.

6

The Trust Hub

Every pilot has a Trust Hub accessible by tapping the shield icon on their profile. It provides a complete picture of a pilot's community standing:

  • Overall trust rating — Aggregate score from all vouches received.
  • Email verification — Confirmed email address status.
  • Phone verification — Verified phone number status.
  • ID verification — Coming soon for enhanced trust.
  • Vouch history — Tabbed view of vouches as seller and as buyer.
