How XP Works

Every action in SkySpot SA can earn you experience points (XP). XP is tracked in two ways:

  • Lifetime XP — Your total XP since joining. Never resets. Determines your level.
  • Monthly XP — Resets on the 1st of every month. Used for the monthly leaderboard.

All XP awards are server-verified — there's no way to cheat the system. XP is calculated and awarded by the backend, not the app.

Here's a complete breakdown of how to earn XP:

Your lifetime XP determines your level. Each level represents a milestone in your SkySpot SA journey:

Streaks

Check in on consecutive days to build a streak. Streaks are a fun way to stay consistent and show your dedication. As your streak grows, the visual indicator changes colour through five tiers:

Grey Orange Red Blue Gold

Tip: A grace day means you don't lose your streak if you miss one day. Life happens — SkySpot SA understands.

Leaderboards

The leaderboard has two tabs:

  • Lifetime XP — The all-time rankings based on total XP earned since joining.
  • Monthly Flying — Resets on the 1st of every month. Tracks check-ins and flying activity for the current month.

The top 20 monthly leaders are archived at the end of each month, creating a permanent record of the most active pilots.

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame celebrates the most dedicated members of the SkySpot SA community. It has three sections:

Founding Pilots

Pilots who have earned 20,000+ lifetime XP. The highest honour in SkySpot SA.

Ambassadors

Pilots who have earned 12,000+ lifetime XP. Community leaders and role models.

Monthly Flight Leaders

The top pilots from each month's flying leaderboard, archived for posterity.

Tip: The fastest way to level up: check in regularly (with notes!), submit quality spots, and be active in the community. Consistency beats one-off bursts every time.
