Fields Tab

Tap Fields in the bottom navigation bar. You can toggle between two views using the icons at the top right:

  • List View — A scrollable list of all fields, sorted by distance from your current location.
  • Map View — An interactive map showing field markers. Tap a marker to see field details.
2

Field Details

Tap on any field to open its detail screen. Each field page displays comprehensive information:

  • Name & Location — Full name and GPS coordinates with a directions button.
  • Contact Info — Phone number, email address, and website (where available).
  • Visitor Policy — Whether the field is open to visitors, members-only, or requires prior contact.
  • Aircraft Types — The 9 aircraft categories supported at the field.
  • Hazard Notes — Any known hazards or safety information for the field.

Aircraft Types

SkySpot SA tracks 9 aircraft type categories for each field. These appear as chips on the field detail screen:

Fixed-wing Electric Multirotor FPV Glider Helicopter Jet Control Line Free Flight

Only aircraft types that are confirmed at the field are shown. If you think a type is missing, you can suggest corrections (see Step 5).

Check In

Tap "I'm Flying Here" on any field detail screen to check in. Your check-in appears as a gold marker on the map, letting nearby pilots know you're active. You earn 5 XP per check-in (or 8 XP with a note), up to 3 check-ins per day.

Suggest Corrections

After checking in, you can help improve field data by suggesting corrections. To submit a correction, your account must meet these requirements:

  • Account at least 7 days old
  • At least 100 XP earned

Tap "Suggest aircraft types" or the enrichment card on the field detail screen to submit your corrections. A moderator will review and approve or reject each suggestion.

Tip: There are 109+ registered fields from SAMAA and RCASA data, plus community submissions. Can't find your field? You can submit it through the app!
